A glimpse into a concept of sin

Before we start, let me establish that this is not an exhaustive outline or topic. Read with understanding and I pray the Holy Ghost will unveil something to your spirit.

Sinning or sin, as seen by many, is doing something that is not right; anything that breaks God’s instruction. But I believe that the things we call sins (not the nature of Sin, but the resultant actions of it) is beyond this. You see, God has an established order/pattern for our walk every day. When a man takes a step outside that order and into an order/pattern influenced by Satan through his mind and performed through the flesh, such a man has sinned.
James, the apostle, tells us,

“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” -James 4:17

We don’t even know what’s good in its entirety in the first place. We do not know God’s whole pattern/will/order of life on our own in the first place. On our own, we are but ordinary brute beasts who know nothing beyond our intelligence.

“But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;” -2Peter 2:12

So, man can be living a pattern that is bounded by sin and still call himself good because it is affecting nobody and so on. But it doesn’t have to affect anyone in order for it to be judged. It doesn’t have to be “bad”. Once it’s just outside God’s heart/will/order/system, it is condemned as sin.

James 1:15
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

1 John 5:17
All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

– Jesus says just by lustfully looking at a woman, you have sinned (this doesn’t affect anyone but because it will corrupt the mind and feed the lust, it doesn’t have to be acted, it’s condemned as sin)

Matthew 5:28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

– Uzzah tried to help balance the ark as it rocked and was killed on the spot (who did that affect? But simply because, it contradicted God’s excellent order of levitical functionary, he was condemned and smitten).

2 Samuel 6:6-7
And when they came to Nachon’s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

It doesn’t have to be termed bad, it just has to be contrary to him and it’s unaccepted. That’s how God sees sin. Anything unacceptable, good or bad.

Thus, God calls us ignorant. Thus, we are termed sinners. Thus, we are termed wicked. Thus, we are termed enemies of God.

Romans 8:8
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

But How Then Shall We Become Able Enough To Please Him? How Then Do We Know Exactly How To Walk And Be In Order?

Psalms 119:11
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

In the truth, we find light into God’s “how”. As we search, we will find His heart, then in the knowledge, we can walk well.

Psalms 119:9
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

– Jesus Christ actually did that (met and satisfied all of God’s standard of living, His order and system of perfection) for us and through His finished work He brings us into oneness with Him and thus strengthens us to please God. We become the righteousness of God through Jesus -2Cor. 5:22. We become God’s object of pure affection. Objects of God’s delight as He sees Christ’s complete obedience in us and we ourselves the forgiven and the never-before-sinned -Rom. 8:329-30.

Through Christ, we see the embodiment of God’s love. That though God judges sin, yet through His judgement on Christ for our sakes, we are moved out of the way and repositioned -Col. 1:12-14.

It is beautiful and inspires love. The understanding of God’s love expressed through Christ has a way of strengthening my commitment to God’s heart and His pleasure.

1 John 5:1-4, 20
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. [20]And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

So, I can’t earn it. I can’t do anything on my own to earn this perfection. Faith in the finished work of Christ accepts this, downloads this and makes it my reality.

– The Spirit of Truth also shall guide you into all things, He says. This is the only Person who knows the Father’s heart and freely reveals it to us. Through Him we can have access and be shown the heart of our God. It’s very important to become one with Jesus in Spirit, else the believer will fail continually even though he has been relocated into God’s family. God has an order. By the Spirit I am ‘led’ as a son through the rudiments of this order, taught and guided thereby.

Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Hence, I not only find myself yearning for what God yearns for, I no longer find myself fitting into the societies and systems/order of this world. This was what happened to the early believers. They were termed crazy. Not that they were delusional, they were just no longer in step with the ‘norms’ of the day. They were on earth as if they weren’t. They were strange, as if they weren’t human no more. They gave what no one would, forgave what no human could, they spoke what the brightest minds wondered at, they saw beyond this reality, they walked with something their world couldn’t understand. This is the life of the Spirit. He knows and reveals God’s ‘right’ and enables you do it. So knowledge and enablement (grace) is what we need to walk into perfection.

So, the next time you think about sin and the bondage of it and God’s judgement on all who are bound by it, remember that no human born of man can please God because we are far from His order. And two, only by Jesus Christ are we ushered into His heart, knowing His counsel and compelled by His Spirit within us to live the Heavenly standard even on the earth.
