Title: IN THIS FAMILY
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.1 John 5:1-4
Love is who God is. Love is the source of all God does. Even God’s judgement emanates from His heart of love. Everyday, the child of God is compelled by a force in His heart towards God and towards all that is good.
Being children of God isn’t a one time experience that has a tendency to expire or be lost in thought or feeling. Being born again in Christ Jesus is a deep spiritual exchange of life that engrafts into us the very life and nature of God Himself.
I’m not an advocate of the ‘once saved, forever saved’ community. But neither am I also an advocate of the ‘once failed, forever lost’ extremists as well. I stand in the place of balance to say that God brings people into His family not like a poonzi scheme nor as a lottery won, but as a Father who gives birth to His very own offspring. These ‘new’ family members carry His Divine gene now. They become ‘sons of God’, supernatural residing in the natural. Do you have a glimpse at it now?
See John 1:12 and 13, John 3:16, Roman 5:17, 2Cor. 5:17
Now, one of those ‘God genes’ is His love in our hearts. The mind of man may never be able to fully comprehend love in it’s entirety. But it is in your heart now that you’re born again. Yes, without faith, it is impossible to please God, that’s true. But do you know that without love, it is impossible to live at all talk less of please? Do you know that even faith works through love? Do you know that between faith, hope and love, love is the greatest?
Why is love so important? Because love is God. Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is genuine. Love is faithful. Love is obedience/obedient. Love is fruitful. Love is forgiveness. Are you getting the idea now? Everything good is in love. And that’s all God commands us now, to love.
You see, the Law of Moses and the traditions were good, but they were a burden too grievous to bear. Sincerely, you would literally walk with eyes over your shoulders so that you didn’t break any either by omission or commission, or whatever else. Man wanted to prove to God that he was better off without Him, and God showed man the standard of perfection and man fell flat under its weight.
But, thank God for the blessed hope of salvation! In Jesus Christ, we have a new standard, love. This standard reveals the Father’s heart rather than the Father’s wrath. This standard makes us know that His commands are not grievous to bear. His yoke is easy and His burden light.
The awesomeness of it all is that God actually trusts you and brags about you before all that you can and will live above this world. For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world. The basis for our being overcomers lies in this: we are born of God and thus have His ability to please Him.
Faith in this truth is what will give you an edge today. And the Bible says that faith is this victory that overcomes the world. Your faith in what God is so convinced about.
You have God’s ability in you through love. You love God. You love the brethren. You don’t give up on other, it’s not your family character. You don’t enjoy and practice error, it doesn’t run in the family. In this family, we heal wounds. We encourage. We bear up. We forgive. We lead. We win. We grow. We succeed. We prosper. We have. We give. We submit. We obey. We learn. We teach. We love. This is our we roll in this family.
Tell yourself today, I am God’s child. I am His offspring. I can do all things good through Christ in me. I am not weak. I can’t be weak when I have genes full of divine strength. Sickness, fear, disease, bitterness and their family members can’t survive inside me. It’s a bad climate for them. Haha!
Glory to God, in the name of Jesus.
