DAY 19 OF 365: WALKING THROUGH THE WORD DEVOTIONAL

A lot of people have nothing to live for everyday because they don’t have anything to expect. Why do they not have anything to expect?

Title: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO REAP?

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

One of the points yesterday that we looked at was this: “If my destination is in the East, what I do is journey towards the East. If in the West, I do likewise, I go West. And no matter how turbulent or crooked it may look, if I still head towards my destination, I am bound to reach it. But, now, if my destination is due East but I start heading North, will I ever arrive at my destination? Of course not. No man ever arrives at the right place by taking the wrong route”.

Let’s pick it up from there today. The Bible talks about the crucial nature of time in the events of life. Everything that happens or will happen has a time frame. We aren’t going to talk much about time today though. But, the Bible also tells us about the needs to be abreast with Time, to know what to do as well as expect with it. I’m not going to tell you that it is important for you to be planting-conscious, rather, today I want to tell you to be reaper-conscious in everything and everyday of life.

Today’s harvests are products of yesterday’s plantings. Those who plant nothing reap nothing. It is a simple law God stated in Gen. 8:22. Time and change are life’s components that are constant. But Time and change are not the only constant components in life. Sowing also is. You see, you always reap whatever you sow. You’ll always reap something.

Everyone wants to gain and take something from this life. The investments you make in life, school, business is so that something can come out, right? But do you also know that this is the same with your spirit and internal life? Whatever it is that you choose to put into your life or put your life into will have an effect on what you’re going to have and be later on.

A lot of people have nothing to live for everyday because they don’t have anything to expect. Why do they not have anything to expect? Because they have given nothing out. I like to see everyday and everything I do as an investment into life. Hence, everyday I expect needs met (me receiving and me giving out) and I have a hope to live still. I believe this devotional is an investment, so even if I’m late, I still strive to make sure I pour something out every day. And like every investment, it pays and will keep paying.

Now, seeing that whatever you do today is going into your future to wait for you and your lineage, whether as good or bad, what kind of decision are you going to make regarding your actions? Are you going to just talk anyhow? Are you going to just go anywhere? Are you going to just do anything you like because you feel like it? No it’s bigger than that. If you need good days ahead of you, invest towards it today. Be good to others, help and respect others. Don’t take pleasure in mocking or ridiculing others.

If you know that whatever you do will come back to you in due time as a harvest (Don’t forget the component of time), then you have to be resolute about putting in the effort and making the sacrifice today. Yes. Your prayers are not in vain, pray them. Studying the scriptures and reading books, increasing your spiritual insight via study is a great investment in your spiritual future. Developing yourself to read, listen to messages, serve in the Church and community, and be a better person every day is a very good investment.

I want to encourage you to keep harvests before you everyday. You’re going to reap good in life, in the name of Jesus. Decide today to invest in your spiritual future, your children, your marriage, your peace, your prosperity. Evey investment will go ahead of you and wait to embrace you upfront. Sow only what you want to Reap!
