Title: SINCERELY, WHAT DO YOU PUT YOUR TRUST UPON?
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the seaPsalms 46:1-2
I remember coming home from work one day and saw an interesting occurrence. This occurrence taught me something I want to leave with you today. A little girl, in her early teens I think, had just insulted and provoked a small group of teenage boys a little older than her. She had actually walked a bit further from them before making the remark. I believe she had hopes that she would outrun them and make it to an open and safe place before they got to her.
When she uttered the curse word, they all gave a chase. I was actually behind them, hoping to see what would happen and at the same time stop them from hurting her if possible. She was quite fast but wasn’t fast enough. She took a turn and they followed her. By the time I got there, the boys were walking back as if nothing had happened. Then I saw her crying by the side of the road. They had not really done much to her except maybe hit her once or twice. But they were satisfied with the way she was wailing and let her be.
You see, what we face most times, the kind of decisions we make, the steps we take mostly depends on the assurance we have. When we have a fortress to run to, we can challenge anything. Do you realize how much confidence you have when you’re with your parents or someone who can defend you? You aren’t afraid to face-off with anything or anyone. Why, because they’ve got your back.
Likewise, in this life we live, your true security is a result of the base of your trust. Yes, money is a defence as well as wisdom. Yet, your greatest defence is and should be Jehovah. Everything, humans, wealth, inheritance, connections, relationships have the tendency to fail you. – Eccl. 7:12; Ps. 89:18; Job 22:25, PS. 52:7-8
But, there is One who’ll never ever fail. He is a strong Tower. The only one worthy to be called Fortress. You can’t beat Satan in the arena of your wealth, boldface, speech, intelligence or affluence. He is the god of this world. If you want to protect yourself and all that’s yours, then turn to the only sure fortress, God.
I need you to ask yourself today, “Upon every thing I’m doing, who is the source of this confidence I have about tomorrow and my security?“
Father, we declare that our trust is in You. We do not trust in men nor in riches. The arm of the flesh shall fail but you will always remain forever. And those who rely on you will never fail. I rely upon you. I will walk the walk of trust in you. Therefore I will never fail. I’ll never fall. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
