DAY 38 OF 365: WALKING THROUGH THE WORD DEVOTIONAL

And the Bible tells us how to stay on fire as a child of God: stay connected to the Source of the fire by the Word and the Spirit…

Title: STAYING ON FIRE ALWAYS

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost

Jude 20

I remember having experienced some encounters with the Lord in some unique ways many years ago. These fiery experiences were priceless. I burned on the inside, I saw and heard refreshing words, I felt love and peace. All fear was terminated and I could literally count myself able to dare Satan all by myself.

Well, something else usually accompanied these experiences which I dreaded. It was how I cooled off and felt dry after some time. I hated that I “lost” the fire that ran through my veins. I would think maybe it’s because I sinned or something else. But over the years, I found out that neither was it sin or wrongs that made me unable to maintain that fire. It was my connection to the Source from which it came: The Word and the Spirit of God Himself.

The purpose of WTTW DEVOTIONAL is for us to both walk this earth upon the life-giving dimension of the Word. One of the effects of this dimension is sustenance and growth. How do we sustain the ripple effect that an encounter with God brings? How do I stay on fire as a Christian whether as a doctor, accountant, teacher, business person or whatever I am, basking in the fires of the Holy Ghost running through my veins and making me a worthy representative of Jesus?

When you’re on fire, you’re a light to darkness. When you’re on fire, you literally become a no-go zone for the enemy. When you’re on fire, you’re an active kingdom force.

So, how do I stay on fire?
I stated that earlier. And the Bible tells us how to stay on fire as a child of God: stay connected to the Source of the fire by the Word and the Spirit.

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed

John 8:31

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Jude 20

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Ephesians 5:18-19

Stay connected to that fire by constantly meditating, hearing, seeing and speaking the word that stirred it up. David says, “I heard twice the word you spoke once, that all power belongs to God” :paraphrase mine (Ps. 62:11). Give time to the Word of your life. Think on it. Talk it the way it is. After you work a little during the day, remind yourself of that fire-stirring word you got that provoked the fire in you.

Praying in the Holy Ghost is one of the believers greatest advantage that many do not even know. Every time you pray in tongues, you’re stirring yourself in the spirit. You’re building your faith. You’re increasing yourself in the spirit. Do you know that when you pray in tongues, you’re dealing with spiritual issues even beyond your physical boundaries? Satan can’t stop the power you release when you pray in tongues. It is something you can do while on the job; something you can do while on the road. You can stir the fire of the Holy Ghost in you anywhere and any time.

Can you try that today? Shut out distractions and pray in tongues a while. Meditate on that scripture that just stirs a move inside you. You’ll discover something will start happening to you from the inside. Revelations, insight and peculiar clarity will come.

Stay on fire today!
