DAY 66 OF 365: WALKING THROUGH THE WORD DEVOTIONAL

Spiritual exercise is a necessity for the believer’s growth and development

Title: THE PRINCIPLE OF EXTRA-LIFE

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:16

Two things I’ve come to realize that are infallible towards to success and results of our Christian lives are a good understanding of and close personal walk with the Holy Spirit. Knowing or understanding is good but it may not afford you the ability to sustain the kind of results that match God’s perfect expectation. We must learn to go all the way, walking with the Holy Spirit. We must learn the art of walking closely with Him. Here, you will know and be able to produce the accompanying fruits of your profession.

And so I show us another practical way to sustaining this order: exercise of our self in the spirit.

Spiritual exercise is a necessity for the believer’s growth and development. If you want to mature and be stronger as a Christian, you have to learn the value of exercising yourself into it. For example, self-control is a fruit of the recreated human spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). If you must manifest this fruit, for instance, you can’t deny the importance of fasting (self denial) or renewing your mind constantly with the word of God. You can’t sleep all day long and have self-control jump on you. It doesn’t work like that.

You want to command results in the place of prayer and maintain a life of spirituality, you can’t but give yourself to tireless prayer life. Like they say, the only place to learn how to pray is where/when you pray.

All that you ever put into your spiritual life is an investment towards a better, result-oriented Christian life ahead. It may not look like much now but it’s creating for you the extra life that you need for the days ahead.

It is this investment returns that I call extra life.

(Hebrews 5:12-14
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.)

Remember, what you’re doing now, reading this everyday and praying, practicing righteousness and truth, you’re gaining extra-life for the future. You’re gathering oil that will sustain your lamp when darkness and gloominess covers the days ahead.

God bless you
