DAY 79 OF 365: WALKING THROUGH THE WORD DEVOTIONAL

Although brokenness is an evidence of having met God, Moses life teaches us that brokenness is a process. It grows and requires continuous attention to be all encompassing.

Title: BROKENNESS

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalms 139:23-24

Although brokenness is an evidence of having met God, Moses life teaches us that brokenness is a process. It grows and requires continuous attention to be all encompassing.

You see, although, Moses had met God and seen dimensions of God that no other human could approach, God had even testified of him that he was the meekest of all men, yet this meekness (non-contentious and gentle spirit) was still working its way through Moses life. One day, this meekest of all men allowed his anger towards his people to cause him to disobey/dishonor God and he was punished.

But in contrast, how did David, the king with all flaws who yet was called the man after God’s heart, survive and sustain his brokenness before God? David understood this thing and so in nearly all his Psalms he had a prevalent prayer request, “O Lord, search my heart and make it right.”

This steady/constant prayer kept David humbled before the One who sees all hearts. This constant cry kept him on his knees before the all-seeing One. And he remained broken. And because of this cry and desire to remain in his Lord’s presence, God called him a man after His heart.

No proud person can abide or continue in God’s presence. His presence rejects and ejects pride. If your prayer isn’t for a heart change, you’ll stay out. – James 4:6, 1Peter 5:5, Ps. 138:6

The key to brokenness?
Rom. 12:1- Constantly laying ourselves upon the slaughter table as an offering unto the Lord. You see the prayer by Jesus in Matt. 26:39 & 42- “Lord not my will but yours” is the prayer of the broken, the man who has given himself over to the Lord.

God will never turn His eyes away from a broken man. But for you O man to be and remain broken, you have to choose to lay your pride, self and all upon the altar of God’s integrity and ability to secure you.

Give yourself over to the Lord. Cast your cares upon Him, He will secure you. Be surrendered and given over to God today. Do it daily. That’s where your rising and sustaining will be guaranteed.

Peace
