DAY 81 OF 365: WALKING THROUGH THE WORD DEVOTIONAL

You need to commit yourself to learn and understand the process of your making. Things are going to go off sometimes. God is going to ask you to take steps into unfamiliar and uncomfortable territories. God is going to seem silent sometimes… At this point, please understand that you’re not forsaken nor should you give up. At this time, what you should be doing is keeping your eyes and ears fixed on the Lord.

Title: UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS

till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

Ephesians 4:13-15

When I began this task of writing a 365-day manuscript everyday according to the leading of the Holy Spirit, it wasn’t in any way to prove I was a Bible scholar, or that I knew all there was in the scripture, or that I wanted to be known as anything. It wasn’t even about me.

Although, I can begin to gradually see and understand some things as a result of obedience to this Divine task, I must continue to acknowledge that it is all the Lord and He takes all the admiration, exhortation, testimony and glory that this developing E-book is bringing.

You see, like my Pastor taught me, Obedience to God is the greatest thing. When you invest upon being submitted to the Lord, understanding and pleasing Him, don’t take it as a religious requirement, rather, see it as for your own good. If you instruct a child not to go near a burning fire, it’s not to prove you’re superior to them (even though you are), it isn’t also primarily to prove you’re wiser or more intelligent (though you might be), but primarily because you want to save them from the pain of being burnt. Your instruction is a demonstration of your love for them and your desire to protect them. This is the primary “Why” of your instruction.

On their own part too, obedience to that instruction shouldn’t be because of their obligation or loyalty to you (even though they should be), neither should it be merely because they fear you (though they should honor you), rather, it should be because they understand the WHY of your instruction. They obey you because they know that the implication of that obedience is a benefit to them (not even you first) and disobedience is a disadvantage to them.

Moses told the Israelites about God’s “WHY” behind His instructions and leading in Deuteronomy 10:12-13
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today FOR YOUR GOOD?

You need to commit yourself to learn and understand the process of your making. Things are going to go off sometimes. God is going to ask you to take steps into unfamiliar and uncomfortable territories. God is going to seem silent sometimes. It’s not going to be fire and burning always. Sometimes, it’s just going to be the Cloud before you when it will seem like you’re walking with nothing except blind Faith in Him who’s before you. At this point, please understand that you’re not forsaken nor should you give up. At this time, what you should be doing is keeping your eyes and ears fixed on the Lord.

Do not neglect the study of the Word nor time in prayers because it seems like you’re not seeing the results you expect. Do not neglect fellowship with the brethren because it seems they don’t care about you (it’s not a group of perfect/flawless people in the first place). Do not neglect the voice of the Holy Spirit pointing at how you behaved or spoke or gestured yesterday in a way you shouldn’t have. Heed it. Follow it. This is your process. Is it going to be comfortable? No. Is it going to be funny always? No. But, this is the process God uses. Gold is refined in fire. Meals, drugs, clothes and lots of other things we use, all go through a process. This is what makes them worthy to be called what they are.

Yield today. Ask the Lord to empower you to identify and stick to the process of your making. For by following and taking the process, you’ll mature into who you’re meant to be.
