DAY 86 OF 365: WALKING THROUGH THE WORD DEVOTIONAL

whatever it is you know today, it cannot be compared to what you’re yet to know. To think you’ve known all there is to know is to prove that you don’t know anything at all

Title: THE KNOWLEDGE THAT HAS EFFECT

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen

II Peter 3:18

In Ecclesiastes, the Bible talks about the unending circle of learning. That is, there is no end to learning or the process of knowing. You see, whatever it is you know today, it cannot be compared to what you’re yet to know. To think you’ve known all there is to know is to prove that you don’t know anything at all.

It has been said that knowledge is power. Those who know have power over those who don’t. But, as true as this sounds, allow me to add that any knowledge that doesn’t have effect is as good as ignorance. Any knowledge a person has that they can’t use or has no effect on their lives is as good as no knowledge at all.

So where is the true knowledge, the one that causes effect. John 8:32 talks of a knowledge that sets free. Here, Jesus wasn’t talking about just knowing about the truth. He meant KNOWING the Truth, coming into oneness with the Truth, contacting the Truth, having clarity of the Truth, etc.

This knowledge has dimensions. Some people stop at the about side. Others go on to the aware of side. But there are those who go to the in side. These in-side people are the ones who surrender to the power of what they know and it changes them.

When you know, that is, enter the in-side of a truth and surrender to its power, it will set you free. Dan. 11:32b also adds that people who know their God will be strong and do exploits. This means those who enter into the practical and effective side of their knowledge of God will receive power/ability to do the extra ordinary.

Is the Word of God we claim to know actually effective in us? How much of it have we given ourselves to? How much time and effort are we giving to know this God we are walking with? How much of us are we letting the Word we hear/read scan and deal with? Have you surrendered to the word yet or you’re just fetching the information in it?

Your life will never get better or become what God wants it to be until you pursue after the knowledge that causes changes. This knowledge can only be impacted by one person, the Holy Ghost, the Author of the Bible- Col. 1:9-10, 2Tim. 3:16

If you ask Him, He will bring you into it. It is this kind of knowledge that changes people’s characters, breaks addictive habits, cleanses people’s consciences in truth, heals sicknesses and removes diseases as well as saves the soul. This is the knowledge you take and allow to become your guiding light!

Every time we approach the Word, let us do so with an open face and an open heart that wants to be changed. By this kind of approach, we will easily believe the Word and it will effectively reveal what we must deal with inside that we never knew existed. By this approach, we will begin to find it easy to release our faith, we will know the Lord and we will see our lives gradually tilting in that direction of ‘like Jesus’.

Ask the Lord tonight, Father, in the name of Jesus, invade my heart with the knowledge that is beyond letters but that has the power to transform me. I’m a work in progress and I desire to grow. I know that your word is key to my growth in grace. Therefore I ask that you’ll open my eyes to see and my ears to hear, you’ll turn my heart as well so that all of me will be affected by all you’ve said, in Jesus name I’ve prayed, amen.
