What if I told you that one of the reasons you struggle in the place of prayers, hearing God, focusing and having answered prayers was your inability to let go of offences done against you?

Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven

Matthew 18:21-22

What if I told you that one of the reasons you struggle in the place of prayers, hearing God, focusing and having answered prayers was your inability to let go of offences done against you?

Today, I mean to ask you, how do you deal with offences and hurts especially from people you care about or those who claim they love you or are with you?

Something good is cooking… Read to the end of today’s article

Jesus told Peter something that shows what God wants us to do with offences as a whole: forgive it. Is it possible for someone to offend you 490 times in a single day? Well, Jesus says that even if they do, forgive them that much. To whom much forgiveness is given, much forgiveness is also expected. The parable of the unforgiving servant shows that – Matt. 18:23-35.

Watchman Nee said in one of his books, “You will find it easier to forgive others their offences when you realize how much of yours God forgives and/or has forgiven“. That is, I won’t struggle to let you off the hook no matter how many times you hurt me when I grasp the reality of how God let me off the hook and still does.

Apostle Paul’s statement in Ephesians confirms that – Ephesians 4:31-32
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

When you and I walk in unforgiveness, we show that we don’t know the value of what God showed us and don’t deserve His blessings. Things go against you when you walk in unforgiveness. You can’t have peace of mind. You struggle to pray. Your prayers will be hindered and you won’t progress. Why, because someone’s offences are withheld in your own life.

A man once said, “I forgave them and someone walked out of prison, that someone was me”. Unforgiveness imprisons you and makes you a slave of the past.

Ask God tonight to help you to forgive every offence you’re struggling to let go off. Ask Him to show you the offence that has caused you to open a door to Satan and all forms of affliction you’re seeing in your life now. Make a decision to walk in much forgiveness everyday. You’ll fly high.
