For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death

Romans 8:2

I remember while growing up as a boy, we’d receive new laws upon new laws in school, laws that we always found a way around. As teenagers, we’d want to see what would happen if we broke some rules or neglected some laws. Of course, some times we got away with it, but other times, we weren’t so lucky. Justice, order and discipline always found us out. And even though I was one who could hide behind an innocent look, my look didn’t have the sovereign power to deliver me from the consequences of my actions where justice found out.

You see, a law is a law, no matter where it is you go, it is effective. For example, the Law of Gravity has no respect for race, intelligence, financial status, age or anything. It doesn’t care whether you like it or not, or whether you believe it or not, that doesn’t change the reality that it exists. Why, it is a law. Unless a greater law counters it, anywhere you go that is within its domain, this law has influence on you.

Even so, do you know that there is a law of life and a law of death in the spirit realm which has power also in the physical realm?

There is a law in the spirit called The Law of Sin and Death (Rom. 8:2). What does this law state? It says, “The soul who sins shall die… “ (Ezekiel 18:20a) and “For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23a).

This law is called Sin and Death (it’s like saying, Sin and then die for sinning). Who ever touches one deserves the other. I believe this was what God was trying to warn Adam of in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 2:17 where He said, “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

God was telling man of the Law but man didn’t keep it and when man sinned, death was ushered in. Through what did death come in? Through sickness, pains, wickedness, slavery to the elemental spirits and forces of the earth, errors, wars, disaster and separation from God, etc. – Read Romans 5.

But there is another law also, it’s called, The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:2). This Law states, “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Rom.10:10, 13.

It also states that, “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”- 1 John 5:12.

Why do I share about these two laws today? I want someone to know that there is no middle ground here. If you choose to live a life that toys with error and sin and think you’re getting away because it seems God is “quiet” about it, you’re greatly deceived. God’s silence doesn’t nullify the law of death for the soul that sins. Only one thing nullifies it, and that is repentance as well as the acceptance of the Law of the Spirit of Life in Jesus Christ.

I don’t know where you are right now but I want you to know that it’s not safe to toy with sin because (you may not know this before but) it will kill you from the inside out. Things like your fire for living, your conscience, love, prayer and study life among other things will die bit by bit until it’s no longer possible to hide again, and until you lose all way to escape eternal condemnation. Also, it can even go further to affect your coming generation.

But, I show you the way of the Spirit. It is through faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on Calvary. By operating His saving Law through the acknowledgement of His Lordship over your life, you nullify the Law of death over you.

Jesus saves. Call upon Him today and free yourself from the Law of death at work in your life and family because of one sin or another in the past.
For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Rom. 10:13
It is Law and it is more powerful than any law in Heaven or on Earth. Operate it today.

Operate the right law.
