FAMOUS – By James George
I knew it was you alright
The moment I smelt it in the room
The shroud of loneliness as it loomed
I looked around and was right
There you were standing in the rear
Beaming smiles ear to ear
Stringing connections among all here
Yet standing alone like a lily in mire
I’m sure I know you
The one men like to pursue
A glistening mirage seen in the distance
The object of man’s applauding stance
But you are not very here as they think
Slipping through fingers and greasing palms
“Here comes everybody’s man” says your man
But you’re gone and he’s all alone in a blink
Being famous is son to achievements
But it is not a cure for loneliness
How can they be your true friends
Who are stringed only to your assets?
They’ll give applauds for a job well done
And throw stones at the same now known
But eyes who see through net worth without judging
Can prove a fortress in the day it gets lonely.
