I gave you wealth, I gave you fame
Adoring fans to scream your name
I taught you how to play the game
And gave you glory God can’t claim
I saw a soul and I took aim
Now I’m your mentor, you’re my flame
I gave you pride, removed your shame
A protégé no man can tame
If you don’t like what you became
Well you sold out so who’s to blame
I raised your ego, your acclaim
So now I own you, just the same

“When I became a Christian I suddenly realized an ability to put in writing what I was feeling spiritually. I had dabbled in poetry years before but it was just to get a laugh and it was usually profane. This time I gave the Lord full editorial control over my “new” works. “Lord, if You want me to edit, delete, add, or even scrap a whole project, impress it upon me and I will do it.” Sure enough, He’s done all of the above, and often.
About 70% of my work is spiritual in nature, the balance is a mix of political, cultural, and even “tongue-in-cheek.” If my work can open just one person’s eyes to the need for Jesus in their life, then publishing it was well worth it. Because eternity is a very long time”
