Title: A GOOD GOD
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him
Acts 10:38
God is a good God. Everything we read that Jesus did in His earthly ministry is a reflection of the heart of God for man. Jesus literally went about, not to simply talk about the Kingdom of God, but to SHOW/REVEAL/DEMONSTRATE the Kingdom to man. So, all the transformation, resurrection, impart, healing and effect that Jesus made is what is in God’s heart. And that hasn’t changed now.
WHY WAS HE DOING GOOD?
- Because, it’s in God’s heart to see people free from sin, Satan and all forms of bondage. God hates bondage or captivity. It gives Him joy to see men blessed, prosperous, well and free. Therefore, He sets out on a mission to set them free. And by setting them free, He does them good that no one else can do for them.
- Another reason why God does good is because He is good. This is different from the first. The first calls Him good because of what He does and desires for His people. But this second calls Him good because goodness is His definition. It’s like saying I am black and you’re white, but God is Good. Good is His nature. That word ‘good’ may mean something else in your dictionary, but for me, good means perfection, void of bad or negativity. And who best fits this description other than our heavenly Father, God.

WHY DO YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS TODAY?
You see, if you don’t understand the good nature of God, you may end up being convinced that He isn’t good to you, He isn’t fair, He isn’t reliable, or He uses bad to work on us. But, I’m not among those that believes that God allows bad things into your life because He wants to teach you things. He is good, and bad can’t be part of Him.
Now, of course there is an experience/lesson learned from every situation we face. But does this mean that every situation is God’s will for you and me? A big no. It’s not God’s will when bad things happen to you. Every situation is not His plan but He has a plan in every situation. And His plans are always good. – Jer. 29:11, 3rd John 2.
David kept repeating throughout the Psalms how good God was. He kept declaring God’s goodness and enduring mercies. And you see, the mercy and goodness he believed existed in His Creator, he enjoyed.
When the Bible says every good and perfect gift comes from God, you should understand that if it came from HIM, then, it should be good and perfect.
I encourage you to take out time to think about this same goodness of God today and give Him glory for choosing to be good to you.
He does good because He is good.
Praise God
