DAY 120 OF 365: WALKING THROUGH THE WORD DEVOTIONAL

choosing to be mad at God or to provoke God is NOT the solution to your life’s crises. Pointing fingers or accusing others is NOT also the way. It never made a way to go against God or His system of operation. It never pays.

Title: LOOK AND BE SAVED

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life

John 3:14-15

What was Jesus talking about here when He said whoever would believe Him enough to look to Him will be saved (that is, receive the God life, the superior life, the eternal life)? In Numbers 21:4-9, we read about how the Israelites were frustrated, discouraged, weary and wanted more in life, just like everyone of us sometimes. They had been fed by God, provided for, sustained and preserved in victory over their enemies. But deep down, because they had become so used to the daily blessing they were receiving, they stopped celebrating its uniqueness. Rather, they began to complain and allow their ingratitude to become discouragement.

They were discouraged because they wanted more but it seemed more wasn’t forthcoming. So they rebelled. They mocked, scorned, attacked the servant of God and the name of God. You see, choosing to be mad at God or to provoke God is NOT the solution to your life’s crises. Pointing fingers or accusing others is NOT also the way. It never made a way to go against God or His system of operation. It never pays.

So, because of their actions, snakes attacked them and started killing them. They were sorry and repented from their actions, so God made a way. He sent His word of solution to Moses.(Ps.107:20). When they did what He said, they were saved from the deadly attacks of the snakes. Moses was asked to make and raise a bronze serpent image. Once any person looks at it, they’ll be kept back from dying.

Jesus made reference to this and said in our opening text, He came to do what the serpent did to the men of Israel. It healed, saved and revived. Jesus says He was here to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), heal and deliver men according to Acts 10:38.

Today, this Jesus has been exalted high above the heavens. He is seated at the right hand of God’s Dominion and authority. Yet, He continues to call to all men to look and be saved. Look and be transformed. Look, turn, face Jesus and be delivered. Whether you’re a Christian or not doesn’t change the truth that if you’re not facing Jesus, you can’t have what it takes to survive this day or age. That thing is called eternal life.

Eternal life, the superior life of God in a man that will enable him overcome this world and live forever with God, is available in Jesus just like life and healing was available in that serpent (1John 5:11-12). All that was required was to look expectantly and with faith in what only God can do. Likewise, Jesus too, He said whoever believes (enough to turn to Him for salvation, forgiveness, healing, deliverance, help, etc.) shall not perish but have everlasting life. In other words, they’ll start living and will continue living.

What’s the way out of condemnation, look to Jesus. The way out of fear and frustration, look to Jesus. The way out of bondage and manipulation, the way out of sickness and affliction, look to Jesus! Turning to Jesus at this or that hour is going to be the best decision you’ve ever made. Not only so, you’ll be healed. You’ll be freed. You’ll be delivered. You’ll be provided for.

Here’s what happens when people look to Jesus, Psalms 34:5, ”They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.” Do you want to come out of shame, Jesus is the answer. Look to and call upon Him today.

Father in the name of Jesus, I receive the grace to look to and keep my eyes on Jesus. Help me paint the image of His person into the core of my soul that I may see and know, and serve Him better.

Blessings.
