It is not in guards but in guidance, and I mean Divine guidance.
This security is the one tied to being led by God. It is not the one tied to our being surrounded alone.
God wants to lead us to safety… Read this and more in today’s devotional.

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.

Isaiah 30:21

I remember watching a comedy cartoon some years ago, of someone who wanted to secure his money from robbers/thieves. He took the money from the bank, brought it home, put it in an iron safe, put the iron safe into another iron safe much more bigger and stronger than that one, and then into another, and another, up to about five or so. His cash was now like five “iron-safe” safe. Then he took the bunch of keys and swallowed them, then went to bed. Guess what happened? He woke up to meet an empty safe. It was very hilarious.

What about the ship that was built in which the builder boasted that not even God can sink the ship? It sank in its maiden voyage along with so many passengers on it. What about the time the servant of God, the great apostle Paul, warned the soldiers who held them prisoners not to embark on a particular journey because he sensed danger ahead, and they refused, what happened? They had a shipwreck that took Divine preservation for them to survive without losing a single prisoner. (Acts 27:9-44)

I understand the pressure of making decisions based on the present state of things. I understand the idea of having our lives planned out and pursuing it so. We have something to fight for when we have something before our eyes. I very much get this. It feels safer to know you have everything figured out. The future looks more secure when we have a plan of action all figured out and when we know those plans are fail-proof. Yet, let me assure you that even with all your blueprint, no way or plan of yours is fail-proof.

Security is good. It is the desire of every human, to know that they, their loved ones and their properties are beyond the reach of danger or damage. Yet, we put our security in the wrong hands. Information has shown us that we live in a day and age where the strongest security or firewall can still be bypassed by someone. It has been proven that no matter how secure or complicated the codes or lock or plan is, it has a tiny chance of being compromised or hacked. That’s the reality we live in.

Yet, I show you a greater reality. The most secure reality, where, as Jesus said, no thief or robber can break into nor compromise (Matt. 6:19-20). The place of the believer’s security. Where, or what, is the believer’s greatest security? It is not in guards but in guidance. Would you agree with me that the most secure state you can be is the position where you know the plans of your enemy or attacker before they execute it?

The security God desires for you and I is the one tied to being led by Him. It is not the one tied to our being protected alone. That’s good but there’s more. God wants to lead us to safety. Remember Psalms 23, “He leads me beside still waters…” Our security is not in protection alone but more in direction. Not only in deliverance but in avoidance. I prefer the testimony that I missed an accident than that I was involved in but got rescued from one. The difference between these two deliverances is that one deliverance came by avoidance and the other by rescue or exemption.

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.

Isaiah 48:17

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Romans 8:14 (KJV)

Who gives direction but the Lord and all He uses? How does He do this except through His Spirit and His Words? You’re under some kind of pressure over the security of your future or a certain aspect of your life, don’t worry. What have you heard God say about that area of life? If God hasn’t spoken, then go wait for His direction. Until you get one don’t go nowhere.

He is the Master navigator, and being Creator, nothing gets past Him. Why not learn to trust Him then. Wait for Him and take His steps. That’s the place of your greatest security, where, like our text says, you will be told what step to take even before time

We trust you o Lord. Interrupt us and lead us and direct us into victory in Jesus name, amen!
