Day 147 of 365: Walking Through The Word

It is desire that will make us pursue the knowledge of the source of all grace, Jesus Christ (2Peter 1:2)

Title: UPON WINGS OF GRACE

“O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”

Psalms 16:2

Do you understand the power in the statement of God’s reality declared in Ecclesiastes 9:11, “I returned and saw under the sun that— The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.”?

The race to which we have been called to run isn’t one to be done by mere brute force, wits and guts, or strong will. No, it isn’t. I declare with all simplicity today that, having checked through scriptures, men who walked with God in the past and whom we can learn from, were men found in their lowest estate but who were elevated by God’s grace – His empowerment.

The man David wasn’t the most perfect of men. The man Paul didn’t start off all awesome. The man Peter wasn’t the most spiritual, nor was the man Jephtah. What about Lady Rahab, the harlot; or Mama Ruth, the Moabitess, Naomi’s daughter in-law from an accursed people; or Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah who committed adultery with King David? In the lives of each of these people, you will understand our opening text, “… my goodness is nothing apart from You”.

We can do nothing unless we operate with grace from above. We will continue to struggle unless we come to the end of ourselves. I believe the manifestation of God’s grace is best revealed when we are at the end of ourselves.

No one understands grace if they still “can” by themselves. When Paul shouted, “I can do all things…” in Philippians 4:13, he gave us a secret that actually it wasn’t ‘he’ who produced the strength for the ‘all things’. He said it was, “through Christ who strengthens…”

You see, until we come to the place where we can declare that, “By myself, this wouldn’t have been. Only God could have done this”, then we will not understand nor better appreciate the grace of God.

Glory to the Lord that, “the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men”, all men, including you and I (Titus 2:11). Through the act of faith, we can depend upon the grace of God, and this being done every day. It will surprise you to know how much power can flow through you when grace takes over! It will surprise you how much strength and discipline you can exercise when grace flows through you.

Accessing grace:

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

  1. Humility is required to come. It takes you agreeing that you need help in order to come. It takes you admitting your reliance upon the strength of God than upon all you’ve ever known to be able to come. Humility is access to great power in us.
  2. Desire for the Lord. When God sees desire, He responds to it. He doesn’t always want to see actions first. He likes to test the yearnings in the earth. That’s why He responds fast to the man who though outwardly he speaks against God, yet deep within in his heart, he craves for salvation. He may respond faster to that guy than to another man who claims religion with his mouth but craves worldliness in his heart.

It is desire that will make us pursue the knowledge of the source of all grace, Jesus Christ (2Peter 1:2)

If you can but humbly pour out yourself and declare your dependency upon the Lord today in that area of your life today, if you can confess your belief of Him, and in faith take steps with a grace-consciousness, you will see it work for you. God’s grace is very sufficient, more than enough to carry you (2Cor. 9:8)

You can do more. It begins with a desire, a willingness to let go of yourself, and a choice, not to go ‘work’ for God but to ‘walk’ with Him through more deeper and practical knowledge of His Son Jesus Christ.

Make a prayer today, and in faith receive grace for effective fellowship with the Lord Jesus by the Holy Spirit; and go out reminding yourself that all you will have and become from henceforth shall be a testament of God’s grace upon your life.

God bless you

Peace.
