DAY 29 OF 365: WALKING THROUGH THE WORD DEVOTIONAL

So, before God, you’ve been dressed up in and by Christ, to stand before the King and before the whole cloud of witnesses, before the twenty-four Elders. That day you received Christ, you were made ready for the Heavenly banquet…

Title: DRESSED FOR THAT GREAT BANQUET

Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen

Matt. 22:9-14

I remember reading a joke of a guy who was asked to join those serving food at a wedding reception because, although he wanted to be a part of the groom’s men, he wasn’t dressed for it. His own dressing was an oddity to the group’s, and he was reassigned by the guys to wait tables. Seems embarrassing but it’s a reality even for the point I’m about to show you as a Christian.

From the day we accept Christ, the Bible says we are “in Him” and “He is in us”. It says we have put on Christ. In other words, we have become clothed with Christ. Can you understand this? I mean, you are “wearing”, carrying upon yourself, Jesus Christ, holiness, honor, majesty, glory, royalty, and everything He means upon you. That’s why being saved is the greatest miracle. How purity takes over impurity and turns it into itself. It is unfathomable but with God, possible.

So, before God, you’ve been dressed up in and by Christ, to stand before the King and before the whole cloud of witnesses, before the twenty-four Elders. That day you received Christ, you were made ready for the Heavenly banquet. That great feast of Christ (the Groom) and the Church (His Bride). You’ve become the Church. Thanks be to the Lord for choosing me. Do you see a dimension of God manifested in Jesus here?- Gal. 3:27, 2Cor. 5:17, Matt. 22:9-14, Eph. 3:10

This is why you can’t afford to do religion. This is why you can’t afford to get stained. No! That’s too expensive. Our “cloth” is not sold in Dubai nor France nor Italy. No amount can buy it. It’s “out of this world”. The price was the Blood of the Lamb. He both paid and cleansed with it. So, it is deadly to start getting ourselves entangled by the mundane things of this world. Why, because you’re dressed up AND you’re not going to lose it or stain it either.

This garment is not gotten by joining a local church or siding with the Church as a body. It is gotten by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Master. Students are given uniforms when they’re registered to a school. When you come in to the Lord, He’ll cloth you with Himself. From that day, He expects you to now cast off the former garment of pride, self, sins, hypocrisy, fear, and everything you don’t see in Him. The Kingdom and Feast we’re attending must not be polluted by “mismatched” dressings. Nothing of this world will be accepted there. Stop trying to mix and slim-fit the material to suit you. This should speak to someone today.

I’ll leave you with the following scriptures to ponder upon the rest of the day. But first, remember, we’ve been clothed and must remain clothed. We’ve been clothed and expected not to add anything else to it. We’ve been clothed and not expected to still hold our past clothing.

Our opening text tells you what’s going to happen if you aren’t dressed for the party (that is, you aren’t ready, aren’t saved, aren’t clean/pure). That’s not going to be you in the name of Jesus.

If you aren’t dressed yet, you can ask Jesus to come into your heart, wash you up and cloth you. If you’ve been stained, you can ask for cleansing now so that you aren’t taken unaware by that great day. If you haven’t laid aside the old garments, I admonish you to identify them and throw them away as far as you can. They aren’t needed anymore. You’re free.

Thank you Jesus. We are clothed with all we need. We do not need the pride, hypocrisy, and have nothing to protect or lose because we have it all in you. Thank you Jesus. We can’t walk in fear or hopelessness. We have you Jesus. We walk in love, it is the mark of perfection. We are clothed with it all. We are clothed with purity, with holiness, with Jesus

Glory!!!

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Eph. 4:22-24

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

Col. 3:10, 12 and 14

Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

1Peter 5:5
